Energy, carbon and cost reduction in a live residential building
Background
NuVeil was appointed to deliver a series of complex mechanical and electrical energy-saving upgrades at Knightsbridge Apartments, a prestigious, high-rise residential block with influential occupants — all delivered with zero disruption despite the building being fully occupied throughout.
A live building with no room for error
The client needed significant reductions in energy use, cost and carbon across solar, lighting, HVAC and BMS systems. But every element of the works had to be delivered without disrupting a fully occupied, high-profile residential building.
Understand your position. Package the priorities. Deliver the solutions.
NuVeil followed a phased, evidence-based methodology — starting with detailed metering and performance analysis, then packaging and delivering targeted energy-saving works with robust technical coordination throughout.
- Rooftop solar PV system installed: 118 panels delivering a 56.64kWp system across three levels
- Car park lighting fully redesigned with zoned LED luminaires and microwave sensor controls
- HVAC motors, pumps and inverters replaced, then the BMS reprogrammed for efficiency
- Traffic management system implemented to protect resident safety during live works
- Live energy data used throughout to demonstrate and report on outcomes
- Full BMS infrastructure replacement now commissioned as a multi-year follow-on programme
Efficient. Undisrupted. Net zero in motion.
HVAC and BMS optimisation alone delivered a 38% reduction in energy use, excluding solar contribution, while car park lighting energy consumption dropped by 41%. The solar PV system is forecast to save £20,000 a year plus £9,000 in export value, paying back in under three years — all without disrupting residents in a fully occupied building.
